What We Like About The Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer

Even though the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer is one of the cheaper high end elliptical trainers you could go with, it does have some good features which are worth mentioning in some detail.

The Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer has a reliable magnetic resistance mechanism with an ECB brake system. This type of resistance is very smooth and quiet thanks to the 14.3-pound flywheel. You will be able to listen to music or watch TV while using the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer without a problem. There are 10 levels of resistance which can be chosen from, all of which can be selected with the easy to navigate console.

Another thing that we like about the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer is that it has dual handlebars. There is one set of static handlebars which is great for a good lower body workout, plus they come equipped with heartbeat sensors. On the other hand, the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer also comes with motion handlebars which are ergonomically designed to give you a good upper body workout.

We like the fact that the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer does come with a few extras. It has a media tray and book rack for your entertainment, plus it also has built-in speakers and a headphone jack so you can listen to music while exercising. It also comes with a water bottle holder so you never get thirsty during your elliptical routine.

We also like the fact that the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer is built for comfort. The SixStar frame which this elliptical trainer features is designed to be ergonomically friendly and to fit your natural stride. Some elliptical machines don’t do this very well, but the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer certainly does. The Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer has zero gap overlapping footplates which do a good job at mimicking your natural range of motion. In terms of comfort, the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer also features well-padded handle, plus large pivoting foot plates too.

Another thing that we like about the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer is that it is fairly lightweight considering that it is a high end model. No, it’s not light per say, but it certainly is not as heavy as some of the other high end models out there.

What We Don’t Like About The Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer

There are a few things about the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer which could be improved upon. Keep in mind that these drawbacks are partially due to the relatively low price of this elliptical.

We don’t like the fact that the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer only has 10 levels of resistance. A serious elliptical enthusiast will need more than 10 levels of resistance.

The fact that this particular elliptical machine does not have adjustable foot plates, adjustable stride length, or an adjustable incline are all minor drawbacks worth mentioning too.

Alternatives To The Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer

So you have a point of reference, let’s talk about a couple of the other high end elliptical trainer models out there which you could get instead of the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer.

Sole E95 Elliptical Trainer

The Sole E95 Elliptical Trainer has pretty much everything that the Horizon Fitness Elliptical Trainer is missing. The Sole E95 is more durable, more stable, it has adjustable foot plates, an adjustable stride length, adjustable incline, a more comprehensive tracking and display system, a much higher weight capacity, and has extra features such as a fan and data export too. Keep in mind that the Sole E95 does cost a lot more than the Horizon Fitness Elliptical Trainer. On the other hand, the Horizon model is a lot lighter and more space friendly too.

Schwinn 470 Elliptical Machine

The Schwinn 470 Elliptical Machine is about $100 more expensive than the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer and the features speak to this. It has far more workout programs, more resistance levels, a more comprehensive display and tracking system, and even has a USB port with data exchange too. In terms of size, both of these models are fairly similar. This really all comes down to whether you want to pay a little more for some extra features or not.

Final Thoughts On The Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer

In terms of high end elliptical trainers, the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer is a force to be reckoned with.
