What We Like About The Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike

There are a few different things which are worth mentioning in some greater detail. This model definitely has some cool features.

We do like how the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike has many awesome extra features that previous models like the AD2 did not have. The Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike features a new windscreen, a reading/accessory rack, an integrated water bottle holder, and a redesigned transportation wheel system. The bottom line is that this model is a greatly improved version of previous Schwinn Airdyne bikes.

Another thing that we really like about the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is that its resistance potential is virtually endless. No, you cannot manually adjust the resistance. However, the air fan lets you pedal as hard as hard as you can muster, and the harder you pedal the stronger the resistance becomes. Some people like how there are no manual adjustments required. On that same note, the fan on the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is made of high-quality ABS plastic to ensure longevity.

Something else that we like about the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is that it has awesome motion handlebars. Motion handlebars are great because they allow you to work out upper body and get a more comprehensive cardio routine in than without these handlebars. Most upright stationary bikes do not feature this, but it is something that we definitely like a lot.

Another thing that we like about the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is that the seat is large and well-padded. The seat is also adjustable in terms of position to suit users of various heights. All in all, the seat on the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is fantastic. On that same note, the handlebars also feature adequate padding for your hands and fingers.

What We Don’t Like About The Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike

There are a couple of bones that need to be picked with the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike, so let’s do that right now.

One issue we have with the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is that the resistance is not adjustable. Yes, we know that we said that we like the fan resistance because of its unlimited potential, but the bottom line is that the amount of resistance you are faced with depends on how hard you pedal, not on any manual adjustments. It’s kind of a one size fits all type of thing, which does not always work too well.

We would like to see some workout programs included here. For the price which the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike comes in at, we feel as though it would be a good addition.

Alternatives To The Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike

To give you a good reference point, let’s talk about some of the other good high end stationary upright exercise bike models you can consider instead of the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike.

Marcy AIR-1 Fan Exercise Bike

Both of these models use a fan to provide you with resistance, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Also, both of these models have motion handlebars to provide you with an upper body workout. Moreover, both bikes have the same weight capacity, plus are virtually the same in many other ways too. The Marcy model is a little less expensive, which could be because it is not quite as stable or durable as the Airdyne. The Schwinn Airdyne also has some other cool features which the Marcy does not have.

Sole Fitness LCB Upright Bike

The big difference between these two models is that the Sole Fitness model uses magnetic resistance instead of air resistance like the Airdyne. We’ve already covered how these two things differ, so we won’t dwell on it here. Of course, another main difference is the addition of motion handlebars which the Airdyne features. The Sole Fitness LCB does have a higher user weight capacity, it has Bluetooth, speakers, a great LCD display, and a few other cool aspects which the Schwinn AD6 does not have. However, the Sole Fitness LCB is more than 3 times the price of the AD6.

Final Thoughts On The Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike

If you want a good mix of affordability, quality, and a comprehensive full body workout, the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike is a great option to consider. It may not really have adjustable resistance or a whole bunch of fancy features, but it will undoubtedly get our heart pumping.
